Farmer agitation reaches Day 55, HP Apple growers share non-APMC experiences

Shimla, Jan 18 (UNI) As the farmers, hailing mostly from Haryana and Punjab, brave harsh winters and other adversaries on the borders of Delhi, demanding rollback of three farm laws, stating that these would end the APMC markets, the ryots, especially Apple growers from Himachal Pradesh, have shared their not-so-pleasant stories regarding the same.
The middlemen or big supply chains, which are being given free hand to deal directly with the farmers, are likely to benefit after having such legislation being put in place to favour them.
Media reports published during 2019 and 2020 indicated that a number of farmers, including an MLA and a former Minister, have been victims of such non-APMC market forces.
