Expedition to mysterious  Roop Kund lake  in Gharwal Himalayas

Bhubaneswar , Oct 01 (UNI) Mission Roop Kund, an expedition to mysterious lake-Roop Kund- situated in Gharwal Himalyas in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, will commenced from here by an eight member team from tomorrow. The team headed by Susanta Das, an Adventure Sports Mentor ,Wildlife enthusiast said the objective of the expedition will be to create awareness to keep Himalayas Green, Clean and to protect the skeletal remains undisturbed for the future generation. The team comprising five boys and three girls will start their journey from here tomorrow by train to Haldwani and from there the team would go on an adventure trek to Rook Kund. Roop Kund is a glacial lake situated at an altitude of 16,000 feet and is famous for human skeletal remains whose origin is still unknown. The expedition is being organised by Nature and Wildlife Conservation Society of Odisha (NWCSO) and Odisha Sport Climbing Association (OSCA) in a joint venture as a part of the celebration of the Wildlife Week being observed from October 4 to 11 next.
