Excited to work with fantastic mix of players at KXIP: Kumble

Excited to work with fantastic mix of players at KXIP: Kumble

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) Indian spin legend and recently-appointed coach of Kings XI Punjab, Anil Kumble on Wednesday said he is very keen to work with the fantastic mix of young and seasoned players and contribute significantly in improving the team's performance in IPL 2020.

Unveiling the KXIP's new jersey for IPL 2020 during an event here, Kumble said, 'I am looking forward to work with the fantastic mix of young and seasoned players in the squad. Coming back as a coach of the cricket team again, I hope to make a significant contribution in KXIP's journey ahead.

"I hope this partnership will grow from strength to strength, and with me coming on board to Kings XI, we will be able to achieve what Kings XI hasn't been able to, over the last 12 years', he added.

Kumble also spoke about his new association with KXIP and explained about the team's roadmap ahead.

'Kings XI have under-performed, considering the talent they possess. Silverware would be fantastic in the cupboard. I think this is what it was waiting for all these 12 years," the former Team India captain said.

Kumble had earlier represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for three seasons, between 2008 and 2010, collecting a total of 45 wickets at an average of 23.51.

After quitting all forms of cricket in 2011, the former Indian leg-spinner joined RCB as their chief mentor between 2011 and 2013, before joining four-time champions Mumbai Indians in the same role.

Kumble also became the head coach of Indian cricket team in 2016, but he resigned after the 2017 Champions Trophy final, due to an "untenable relationship" with skipper Virat Kohli.

On the occasion, KXIP CEO Satish Menon announced EbixCash as the title sponsor for three years. Robin Raina, CEO, EbixCash and Arshad Nizam Shawl, Director and Co-founder of Alliance Advertising and Marketing, were present.
