Ex-Mizoram Speaker to face corruption trial after Governor grants sanction

Aizawl, May 11 (UNI) In a significant development in a high-profile corruption case in Mizoram, Governor Gen V. K. Singh (Retd) has approved prosecution proceedings against former Mizoram Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo over allegations of abuse of office, criminal breach of trust and illegal gratification linked to a road construction project.
The sanction, issued following an investigation by the Mizoram Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), paves the way for the prosecution of the senior politician under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 409 of the Indian Penal Code.
Sailo, 66, is a well-known political figure in Mizoram who has held influential positions across party lines over the years.

Congress asks Bihar govt to release pending salaries and pensions of University employees
