Ex-KDMC corporator booked for cutting cake during birthday celebration

Thane, Jul 18 (UNI) The Kalyan taluka police have booked a Shiv Sena leader and former corporator of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), for allegedly cutting his birthday cake with a gifted sword, in a function.
Former corporator Mayur Patil, resident of Balyani at Mohane, has been booked under Sections 25 and 4 of the Indian Arms Act, police said.
According to police, Patil was celebrating his birthday in his house on July 16, when one of the friends gifted a 33-inch sword to him.
During the celebration, the accused brandished the sword proudly to the audience and later cut the birthday cake with it while those present cheered him.
At the same time, one of the members in the party filmed it in his mobile phone and later made it viral and it spread in the social media.
The police, when got to know about the same, went in search of Patil the next day but could not locate him.
Upon coming to know that the police were searching for him, Patil walked into the police station himself along with the sword and informed them about the entire incident.
The local police are probing into the crime, sources said and added that no one has so far been arrested in connection with the incident.
