Ex-CM Ramaswamy passes away

Puducherry, May 15 (UNI) Former Puducherry Chief Minister S Ramaswami passed away due to age related ailments here last night. He is 84 and survived by his wife and four sons. Mr Ramaswami, elected from Karaikal (South) became the Chief minister from AIADMK on March 6, 1974. However, his government lasted only till March 28,1974 ( for 22 days). He won the next election and again became the Chief Minister on June 2, 1977 and held the office till November 12, 1978. Mr Ramaswami was defeated in his Karaikal (South) Constituency in 1980 by Savarirajan of Congress. However in the next two successive elections held in 1985 and 1990, he contested and won. In 1985 election he won as an Independent candidate and in 1990 poll on AIADMK ticket. There after he never contested elections. According to family sources, Mr.Ramaswami died in his sleep. COVID: J&K reports fresh 268 positive cases, 10 deaths

Jammu, Jul 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday informed that 268 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), (87 from Jammu division and 181 from Kashmir division), have been reported thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 10156.
