New Delhi, Jul 28 (UNI) All people deserve to have a voice in their government and be treated with respect no matter who they are, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday while meeting with civil society leaders here.
India and the US need to give ‘real meaning’ to the fundamental tenets of democracy like human dignity, equality of opportunity, rule of law, and fundamental freedoms, including freedom of religion and belief, he noted.
During his meeting with civil society leaders here, among whom was a Buddhist monk, Blinken said the relationship between India and the US “is one of the most important in the world”, adding: “We’re connected in so many different ways – business ties, university ties, religious and spiritual ties, and of course, millions of family ties.”
