EU critical of presence of foreign mercenaries in Libya

EU critical of presence of foreign mercenaries in Libya

Tripoli, Jul 1 (UNI) The European Union (EU) delegation, currently on Libya visit, on Wednesday condemned the presence of foreign mercenaries in the country and called on all Libyan and regional players to make efforts to lift the oil blockade.

The presence of mercenaries in the country endangers the integrity of its oil installations and facilities, that could possibly have long-term implications for Libya's oil production capability, Xinhua quoted the delegation as saying.

The statement expressed support for the UN-backed Libyan government's National Oil Corporation (NOC) in its efforts to resume oil production and at the same time pitched for ensuring transparency in the utilisation of oil revenues.
