Ernakulam district gains credible achievement enrolling 75,000 migrant workers in AAWAZ

Kochi, May 20 (UNI) Ernakulam district has achieved a credible achievement by enrolling 75,442 migrant workers as members in the AAWAZ scheme, a free health care-cum-insurance scheme for migrant workers in the state.
Ernakulam district topped among other districts in the state by enrolling the maximum number of migrant workers, including 68233 males, 7187 females and 22 transgenders in the state within one year after it launched by the Labour Department in the state, a release said here on Monday.
Altogether 374,747 migrant workers become members in the scheme and collected cards, it said adding that Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode with 39,935 and 33328 members respectively stood behind Ernakulam, while the least membership was reported from Wayanad with 9550 members.
