Environmentalists & civil society join hands to spearhead campaign to save Aravalli

Jaipur, Dec 11(UNI) A massive national movement for saving the Aravalli - the oldest mountain range of India, seems to be in the offing with several environmentalists and civil society organisations deciding to reach out to political leadership across the party lines and also the Supreme Court, before taking the stir to streets.
However, a consortium of the organisations, named Aravalli Virasat Jan Abhiyan and the Bharat Seva Sansthan founded by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Gandhian thinkers, have opted to have resolved, on the International Mountain Day today, for launching an all-out campaign demanding the recall of the Supreme Court verdict of November 20, 2025.
While the Aravalli Virasat Jan Abhiyan held a press conference to announce the resolve and express their extreme disappointment on the Supreme Court's for judgement which has put the 2 billion year old Aravalli range- spread across 4 states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat into an existential crisis. The press conference was attended by Neelam Ahluwalia of the People for Aravallis ; Lakshmi and Babu Garasia of Bhakhar Bhitrot Vikas Manch Sirohi; Kailash Meena, Environment Activist, North Rajasthan ; Virender Mour, Youth Leader and Coordinator of Rajasthan Kisan Mazdoor Naujawan Sabha, Rajasthan and Kavita Srivastava, National President, People’s union for Civil Liberties (PUCL).

Raipur/Bilaspur, Jan 15 (UNI) In a landmark ruling that reaffirms the primacy of statutory marriage under Indian law, the Chhattisgarh High Court has held that a live in relationship or even a man’s acceptance of children cannot confer legal status when a woman’s first marriage remains valid and undissolved. The court ruled that marital and inheritance rights flow strictly from law, not from long personal associations or mutual consent.

Bathinda court grants Kangana Ranaut permanent exemption from physical appearance

Army Day 2026: Pink City witnesses power, precision and pride
