New Delhi, Oct 19(UNI) On the 25th anniversary of the iconic Bollywood film 'Dilwale Dulhaniyan Le Jayenge', a bronze statue of Bollywood heartthrob Shahrukh Khan and his DDLJ co star Kajol will be unveiled in London’s Leicester Square, trade sources said on Monday.
The statue, a first ever Bollywood statue erected in the Unitrd Kingdom, will depict a scene from DDLJ.
The statue is set to be unveiled in Spring 2021.
Organisers are hopeful that the stars of the film Shahrukh Khan and Kajol will be able to travel to London to unveil the statue in a special celebratory event.
Incidentally, Leicester Square featured in DDLJ in a scene when Raj and Simran first cross paths. The scene features two of the square’s cinemas prominently,
The statue will join nine other film icons from the past 100 years, which include Laurel and Hardy, Bugs Bunny, Gene Kelly in Singin’ in the Rain, Mary Poppins, Mr. Bean, Paddington and iconic DC Super-Heroes Batman and Wonder Woman.
