Forget boredom: Government brings epic serials Mahabharata, Ramayana back

New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI) The government on Friday decided to re-telecast the famous and decades old serials Mahabharat and Ramayana from Saturday, bringing some respite to mythological art lovers amid the countrywide lockdown due to coronavirus.
"Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting re-telecast of 'Ramayana' from tomorrow, Saturday March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm," Mr Javadekar tweeted earlier in the day and in an another tweet apprised of re-telecasting of Mahabharata.
The famous and the most popular mythological television series of the yesteryears could once again be seen on TV.
Ramayana will be telecast on DD National with one episode between 0900 hours to 1000 hours and one episode between 2100 to 2200 hours while Mahabharata can be seen at 1200 hrs and 1900 hrs daily.
Ramayana and Mahabharata were so popular and binding series in its times that the actors who played the characters of Lord Ram in Ramayana and Lord Krishna in Mahabharata among several others were regarded and respected like gods in real life.
People, especially the ones who viewed the series during their childhood, will get to re-live there memories attached to the times.
