Encounter going on between militants, security forces in Baramulla

Baramulla, Jan 23 (UNI) A fierce encounter ensued between the militants and security forces during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in this north Kashmir district on Wednesday afternoon, a police Spokesperson said here.
He said on a tip-off about the presence of militants, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and the CRPF launched a joint search operation in village Binner Baramulla. However, an encounter ensued, when the militants attacked the security force search party. Additional security forces have been rushed to the site, to further tighten the cordon and foil any attempt by the militants to escape, added the Spokesperson.
The operation was still going on, when the reports last came in, he said.
