Encounter ensues between militants and security forces in Pulwama

Srinagar, May 16 (UNI) A fierce encounter ensued between militants and security forces during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama in the wee hours of Thursday, official sources said.
They said troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR), CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation in village Dalipora, Pulwama, following a tip off about the presence of militants in the wee hours. After sealing all exit points, security forces launched searches in the area, they said.
However when the security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village, militants hiding there opened fire with automatic weapons, they said adding fire was returned ensuing in an encounter. They said two to three militants are holed up in the area.
Additional security forces and state police personnel have been deployed in the nearby areas to prevent demonstration.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, they said adding mobile internet service in Pulwama has been suspended as a precautionary measure.

MP CM meets Food Minister

Bhopal, July 5 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ramvilas Paswan at the latter’s New Delhi residence on Sunday and discussed quandaries pertaining to wheat procurement, bonus plus ration for transient labourers.
“In the previous fiscal, 73.70 lakh metric tonnes of wheat were procured from peasants of which 67.25 lakh MT were accepted in the central pool. I urge that the remainder be included in the pool soon, so that payment may be disbursed to cultivators. Regarding provisions for migrant workers, approximately 13 lakh returned to the state but of them 1.90 lakh have been unable to obtain provisions owing to non-availability of cards,” the visiting politician was officially quoted as saying.

Bhopal, July 5 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made a courtesy call on Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh on Sunday at the latter’s New Delhi residence – the first such interaction after the former politician assumed this state’s reins in March, official sources said.
During the meeting, the visiting leader urged establishment of a Sainik School within Chambal Division, which is long pending.
