Encounter ensues b/w militants, SF in Pulwama

Srinagar, Dec 28 (UNI) A fierce encounter ensued between militants and security forces during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Friday, official sources said.
Acting on a tip off about the presence of militants in Badran, Pulwama, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation this morning.
However, when the security forces were moving towards particular area, the militants hiding there opened fire with automatic weapons, they said, adding that security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter.
Additional security forces have been rushed to further tighten cordon, they said, adding that the operation was going on when the last reports came in.
It is reported that two to three militants are holed up in the area, where a hideout was busted recently by security forces.
