Encounter begins in J&K's Doda

Jammu, Aug 13 (UNI) Encounter started between security forces and terrorists on Tuesday evening in Assar area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by Indian Army and J&K Police was launched in Akar Forest near Patnitop," White Knight Corps posted on X.
"Contact has been established with the terrorists and operations are in progress," it further posted.
Jammu and Kashmir Police along with other sister concern agencies in a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-terror operation on Monday apprehended a Kathua based kingpin of Over Ground Workers (OGW) network along with his eight other associates for providing logistic support and guiding then to reach upper reached of Doda-Udhampur-Kathua districts and usher terror activities.
The police spokesman said that collaborating human intelligence, inputs provided by central intelligence agencies and successfully opration in Gandoh Doda, where three foreign terrorists were gunned down, the security forces zeroed in a module, wherein freshly infiltrated terrorist were found active with support of local handlers and successfully reaches the upper reaches of Udhampur-Doda and Kathua.
On Sunday a fresh contact was also established between security forces and a group of terrorists in Basantgarh area of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier on August 6, contact was established in the same area following which a massive search operation was in progress in the forest belt of Basantgarh in Udhampur district.
A brief exchange of firing also took place between security forces and terrorists early morning on Sunday in Kishtwar district.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police however, on Saturday also released sketches of terrorists seen in the recent past in parts of Kathua district.
Police released sketches of four terrorists who were last seen in dhoks of Malhar, Bani and Seojdhar.
