Kochi, Sep 18 (UNI) In a major security breach reported at the country's high security zone, electronic components were found stolen from four most sophisticated computers in the India's fist indigenous warship 'Vikrant' which is under construction at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
The electronic components including hard disk, Random Access Memory (RAM) and processor were found stolen from the sophisticated computers installed in the warship 'Vikrant' which is scheduled to be inducted into the Indian Navy in 2021.
Talking to UNI, CSL sources on Wednesday said that they were clueless when the theft took place.
A formal complaint was filed before the Ernakulam South Police station in this regard by the Shipyard General Manager, the sources added.
Reacting to the incident, Kerala DGP Loknath Behra told newspersons on Tuesday that a special probe team has been formed to investigate the alleged theft.
Though the Navy down played the incident claiming that no strategic device was in the warship, the National agencies have launched a probe into the missing electronic components.
The most sophisticated computers were installed by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, based in Bengaluru.
