Election Commission rejects request for recounting of votes by different parties

Patna, Nov 12 (UNI) The Election Commission on Thursday rejected requests made mostly by several candidates of several political parties for a recounting of votes in Bhore, Hilsa, Matihani, Ramgarh and Dehri assembly seats for which results were announced on November 10, suggesting that allegations that were made regarding violation of election rules were found to be baseless in all the cases during their investigation.
Chief Electoral Officer H R Srinivas told media persons here that a complaint filed by CPI (ML) politbureau member Kavita Krishnan had alleged that JD(U) MP Alok Kumar Suman had reached the counting hall when counting was in progress which she pointed out was a violation of rules. Mr Srinivas however, said that during their investigation it was found that Mr Suman was indeed present near the counting hall but had not entered inside the counting hall, therefore he was not found guilty of any kind of violation.
Mr Srinivas said that allegation of delay in 27th and 33rd round of counting in Bhore Assembly constituency was also found to be without any basis, as the complaint of CPI (ML) candidate Jitendra Paswan in this connection, had no basis as his agent had signed documents and raised no objections during the counting process.
