Elaborate security arrangements by Delhi police to ensure safe Holi

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements were put in place in the national capital on Thursday, to make sure that the people here celebrated the festival of colours with fervour and enthusiasm and to prevent any kind of hooliganism that would affect the spirit of the festivities.
Barricading and increased police presence was easily visible at various roads , streets, and other important points to keep a check on the anti-social elements and such characters who could disturb people with untoward activities and behaviour.
There were large number of police personnel present in each district and increased number of traffic cops were deployed along with them to check traffic rule violations such as drunken driving , riding two wheelers without helmets, red light jumping and other offences.
However, despite such elaborate arrangements some people were seen not following traffic rules either riding two wheelers without helmets or jumping traffic signals etc.
Traffic cops were seen intercepting such rule breakers and prosecuting them accordingly, However , some still managed to get away using streets or by-lanes.
Earlier , since some time the police had also being giving instructions to the people using public address systems in streets , colonies and public places stating that uncivilised conduct like playing colours without someone's consent or throwing colour , balloons, water at unknown persons will attract legal action.
The police had also sensitised people sending the message across that parents must make their children aware about such conduct and if some children are found involved in any mis-conduct then the parents will be held responsible for the behavior.
