Kabul, Jun 24 (UNI) At least eight militants were killed in an air strike carried out by the Afghan army in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan, Afghan army said on Monday.
The airstrikes were carried out in Tangi Wech area of Shah Wali Kot district, killing eight gunmen and wounding three others, Afghan Khaama Press said quoting a military source.
Furthermore, the security forces discovered and defused 45 improvised explosives devices during the operations in Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces.
The security forces discovered the improvised explosive devices in Panjwai district of Kandahar and Tarin Kot city of Uruzgan.
This comes at a time when the security situation has deteriorated sharply in some provinces and in the Kandahar province in recent months, where the Taliban elements are activated in some provinces of Kandahar. The Afghan forces routinely conduct counter operations in this province.
