Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 21 (UNI) Eight Keralites who were on a pilgrimage to Nepal and staying in a resort at Daman in Kathmandu died due to suffocation on Tuesday even as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed deep sorrow over the deaths.
Eight people including four kids who were on a pilgrimage in Nepal died due to suffocation after the heater, which they used in their room to keep themselves warm, malfunctioned and gas pumped into the room causing them to suffocate, sources said.
The Chief Minister directed the Non Resident Keralites Affairs (NORKA) to contact the India Embassy in Nepal to bring back the bodies of eight people for sending them to their native places on Wednesday.
