EG admn on full alert as software engineer admitted to Kakinada GGH with suspected coronavirus infection

Kakinada, Mar 4 (UNI) The entire East Godavari administration has been kept on full alert as a software engineer from Hyderabad who returned from South Korea and now on a brief visit to his native village in Kothapet Mandal of Konaseema region complained of severe cough and the authorities rushed him to the Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Tuesday night suspecting him of infected by dreaded Coronavirus infection.
The software engineer Bandaru Venkateswarlu(28) returned from South Korea on February 22 and four days back he reached his native village Vadapalem in East Godavari District along with his wife and son to attend a marriage at his in-laws place in Godasivaripalem of Mummidivaram mandal.
When he complained of cough and uneasiness on Tuesday morning, a local doctor examined him and provided treatment.
On knowing his ill-health, the local officials who suspected him of suffering from Coronavirus, on the advise of District Collector Muralidhara Reddy, rushed him to the GGH last night itself.
He was kept in quarantine in a isolation room and a team of doctors led by Dr M Raghavendrarao, Hospital Superintendent, who himself is a Senior Pulmonologist, have been attending to him throughout night.
The hospital authorities did not allow any one including the media persons to the isolation room in view of the seriousness of the Coronavirus infection.
Mr Muralidhara Reddy along with Superintendent of police Adnan Nayeem Asmi on Wednesday morning visited the isolation room and interacted with the patient- the software engineer and also with team of doctors attending on him.
Dr Raghavendrarao informed them that blood and other samples from Venkateswarulu were collected and sent to the Laboratory at Hyderabad.
He also clarified that there were no symptoms of Coronavirus infection and the software engineer was suffering from simple cough and there was nothing serious.
He also clarified that except cough, there is no high temperature and cold and the software engineer is hale and healthy.
However, the hospital Superintendent said, the patient was kept under constant observation and likely to be discharged within a couple of days after receiving the Laboratory report.
He said unnecessary commotion was created among people on the condition of the software engineer and Coronavirus.
