Varanasi, Sep 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said educating children is the only option to end poverty in the country. "The poor should not compromise on educating their children and they should do it even if they face hardships so that the future of their family, children and country is free from poverty," he said. Mr Modi, hitting out on the past governments, said, "We have heard slogans about 'Garabi Hatao' and long speeches over the issue. Unfortunately, nothing had happened but now things are changing." "I do not blame any political party or the governments but every one has to accept that their efforts did not change the situation in the country," he added. Mr Modi was addressing a function after distributing package to 602 families in his parliamentary constituency under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Besides, he also distributed 501 pedal rickshaws, 101 e-rickshaws and 1000 solar lanterns for rickshaw, pushcart and street vendors. The Prime Minister said, "If we bring about even a little change, use technology in our lives then even the poorest of the poor will earn more." He said this scheme is not for a few poor people who have received the package but this programme is going to change the future of Varanasi. "A touch of technology can greatly help the poor and it would be our effort to make the poor of India self-reliant," he said while adding that the skill development mission launched by the Centre would certainly improve the condition of living of the poor. "A proper skill would certainly make a person technology friendly and can improve his work even after given less labour," he added. MORE UNI MB SV SB1242
