ED quizzes Chanda Kochhar & her husband in Videocon loan case

New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) Former ICICI Bank Chairperson Chanda Kochhar was quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday in connection with the Videocon loan case.
She appeared before the ED along with her husband Deepak Kochhar around 10.30 AM and both were quizzed for more than six hours.
According to a reliable source in the probe agency, the questioning was focused around ‘the loans’ given to Deepak Kochchar's Nupower Renewables by corporate companies, the Videocon group and others.
It has been alleged that ICICI Bank has disbursed a loan of Rs 3,250 crore to Videocon Group between 2009 and 2011 and the Videocon Group’s owner Venugopal Dhoot had invested in Deepak Kochhar's firm NuPower Renewables Ltd via his company Supreme Energy.
Both Chanda and Deepak Kochhar have been investigated the CBI and ED and the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) in this case.
ED had also summoned Chanda Kochhar to record her statement on May 5 but she did not appear before the probe agency for questioning.
The probing agency had conducted a series of searches at the residence and office premises of the Kochhars in March 2019 and also questioned Chanda and Deepak Kochhar in presence of Venugopal Dhoot.
