ED attaches property worth Rs 2.95 Cr in Axis Bank demonetization case

New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a Provisional Attachment Order under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) attaching movable and immovable properties worth Rs 2,95,92,351 of Puneet Jain, Hemraj Singh, Vinod Deshmukh, Rajeev Singh Kushwaha, Mehfooz Khan, Pravesh Kumar Gandhi and others in Axis Bank demonetized currency conversion case, ED officials said here on Monday.
ED’s move under PMLA against Mohit Garg, Raj Kumar Sharma and Devendra Kumar Jha comes after the registration of FIR by Delhi Police after seizure of Rs 3.70 crore in the form of demonetised currency note of Rs 1000.
Central financial probe agency revealed that on announcement of ‘Demonetization Policy’ accused Mohit Garg, Nitin Gupta, Vineet Gupta, Shobhit Sinha and Axis Bank officials have used shell companies and firms namely Beagle Marketing, Sunrise Trading Co, RD Traders, Himalayan Traders of Rajeev Singh Kushwaha for illegal exchange of demonetized currency of Vinod Deshmukh, Puneet Jain, Hemraj Singh, Pravesh Kumar Gandhi and others.
