ECI shunts out Chennai City Police Commissioner ahead of polls

Chennai, Apr 10 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday shunted out Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A.Arun and appointed Abhin Dinesh Modak ahead of the Assembly polls on April 23.
In a release, EC saidI Mr Modak, ADGP, Enforcement Bureau, Chennai CID, was posted as the new Chennai city police commissioner.
The ECI also directed that Arun should not be involved in any election-related work.

Bengaluru, May 13 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court has upheld the validity of a notice issued via WhatsApp by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) directing a French citizen, who had allegedly been running a restaurant in Karnataka for nearly 15 years on a tourist visa, to leave the country.

Chennai, May 13 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay heding the TVK government in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday proved his majority in the 234-member Legislative Assembly, winning the confidence vote non-chalantly with the backing of the supporting parties and the members of the Rebel AIADMK camp, after the 59-member principal Opposition DMK staged a walk out, while the four-member PMK, an ally of AIADMK, and BJP abstained from voting.
