EC to notify elections to Municipalities and Corporations shortly

Hyderabad, Oct 25 (UNI) State Election Commission will shortly notify poll details to Municipalities and Municipal Corporations in the state.

The ward wise photo electoral rolls of Municipal bodies were prepared and published on July 17 this year by the Municipal commissioners by adopting Assembly Electoral rolls published by Election Commission of India earlier, state Election Commission said in a release here on Friday.

Only those persons whose names are found in the ward-wise photo electoral rolls are eligible to vote in the elections.

Mere possession of an Epic card or the fact that person may have voted in a recently held elections does not entitle to vote in Municipal Elections unless his or her name is enrolled in the Electoral rolls specifically prepared for Municipal Elections, the release said.

One can check the status on the web portal of Telangana State Election Commission (tsec.gov.in) by downloading voter slip through “Voter Portal’ module.

One can also ensure one’s name in the Municipal Electoral roll by ensuign that the same is enrolled in the concerned Assembly Constituency Electoral Rolls.

It is essential that one’s name should be first found in the Assembly Electoral Rolls for its to appear in the ward wise photo electoral rolls of the concerned Municipality or the Municipal Corporation.

If voter name is existing in the Assembly Electoral rolls, it will automatically be enrolled in the ward wise electoral rolls of the Municipality or Municipal Corporation.

If not , the voter has to take necessary action to submit relevant forms to the Electoral Registration officers of the concerned Assembly constituency either through online or in the prescribed paper format before the date of issue of election notification by the state election commission.

Since only those names found in the Assembly electoral rolls as on the date of election notification will be included in the ward wise electoral rolls of the Municipality or Municipal Corporation.

All the citizens who crossed 18 years by January 1, 2019, residing int eh jurisdiction of Municipalities and Municipal Corporations which are going for elections shortly are requested to take advance action to see that their names are registered in the concerned Assembly Electoral Roll so that same can carried out to MERs, the release added.
