EC seeks report from chief secretary on action against four officers, sets 72-hour deadline

Kolkata, Jan 21 (UNI) In a significant development, the Election Commission has sought a detailed report from the West Bengal Chief Secretary within the next 72 hours on what action has been taken against four state officers accused of illegally enrolling names in the electoral rolls, and has also asked the details of the departments which failed to implement its directives.

The Commission has instructed that the report be submitted by 5 pm on January 24.
