EC orders suspension of 6 more Bengal officers over SIR lapses

Kolkata, Feb 15 (UNI) The Election Commission of India today ordered the suspension of six more government officials in West Bengal for alleged misconduct, dereliction of duty and misuse of statutory powers during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

In separate communications to the state Chief Secretary, the Commission directed that all six officers, who were functioning as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) during the SIR exercise, be placed under suspension with immediate effect and disciplinary proceedings be initiated against them.
