New Delhi/Lucknow, Jan 10 (UNI) Election Commission will hear on January 13 both the groups of Samajwadi Party over the dispute regarding the party's 'Cycle' symbol . 'The hearing is fixed for Friday,' EC sources said today. Both the groups--Mulayam Singh Yadav faction and the Akhilesh Yadav camp- have staked their claim on the party's symbol 'Cycle'. Mulayam went to the Election Commission yesterday with documentary proof of the faction led by him enjoying the support of the majority of legislators. The Akhilesh camp had also visited the Commission to file the rival claim to the party name and the symbol 'Cycle'. The poll panel has to take a decision before the January 17 notification for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The state will go to the polls in seven phases between February 11 and March 8. Ahead of the consultations on January 13, the ongoing dispute in the ruling Samajwadi Party appeared on the verge of reconciliation as Mulayam and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met for the first time after both factions went to the Election Commission to stake claim on the party and election symbol.
