Online shopping from metro buyers is more or less consistent and growing. “In 2015 (January – September data) the split between metro and non-metro buyers was more or less 50-50. However, in 2016 (January – September data) we have witnessed that the split of online buyers in non-metro to be at approx. 58 per cent as compared to 42 per cent from metro buyers. Non-metro buyers have possibly increased by approx. 10 percentage points even if we consider the increase in total no. of buyers shopping online across e-commerce portals. What have also led to increased shopping online is that now we have substantial transactions from women shoppers as well, which wasn’t possibly reflecting earlier,” she said. On the expected growth in Indian e-commerce Market, she said, “According to a recent report by Kotak institutional equities, Indian e-tailing market could reach $28 billion by 2019-20, registering a compounded annual growth rate of 45 percent over the next four years.” UNI ADP ADG 1740
