Earthquake in Japan: No Tsunami threat to India : INCOIS

Hyderabad, Nov 22 (UNI) : There is no tsunami threat to the country in the wake of the powerful quake that shook near East Cost of Honshu, Japan today, Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) here said.
“This earthquake happened in the ocean part of Honshu and the water column height at epicenter location is 180 m, Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC)-INCOIS said in a bulletin on its portal.
Based on historical earthquake and tsunami data, ‘Tsunami threat does not exist’ for India, the preliminary earthquake information bulletin which released in 8 minutes after the earthquake, said.
