New Delhi, Jan 24 (UNI) As the country is celebrating its 69th anniversary of the Republic on January 26, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Thursday alleged that the ‘the Republican Constitution is under continuous assault after Narendra Modi government assumed office in 2014 and urged that "each citizen should ensure that the next Republic Day in 2020 will not be observed under the current regime but under a secular government".

In an editorial published in its mouthpiece ‘Peoples Democracy’, the CPI(M) said that the latest ‘assault’ is the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which is pending in the Rajya Sabha.
