E-MPUY 2 launched to achieve 100 per cent LPG penetration

Kolkata, Jan 3 (UNI) With the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme, LPG penetration in West Bengal has increased from 40.5 per cent in August 2014 to 88.1per cent in December 2018.
The number of LPG customers has also gone up to 195.75 lakhs in December, 2018 against 86.64 lakhs in August, 2014, informed Abhijit Dey, Chief General Manager, (LPG), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. here today.
Interacting with the media persons Mr Dey informed that 6 crore free LPG connections so far have been distributed under the PMUY scheme. PMUY, a scheme to provide 5 crore deposit-free LPG connections to women belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in India, has been subsequently increased to cover 8 crore with a budgetary allocation of Rs 12,800 crore.
