DYFI, public resort to novel agitation

Puducherry, Apr 17(UNI) The residents of Samipillaithottam here along with volunteers of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Monday resorted to a novel agitation to protest the supply of contaminated drinking water in their area.

According to the volunteers, about 10,000 people are residing at Samipillaithottam and they are getting contaminated drinking water. At the time of election, there was a promise of giving protected drinking water to them.
However, nothing is materialized so far. As announced earlier, they resorted to a novel agitation to supply the contaminated drinking water to the officials.
The people gathered at the Sivaji statue and loaded bottles of contaminated water in a push cart and garlanded it.
They took the cart to the PWD office on East Coast Road and held a demonstration in front of the office and shouted slogans in support of their demands.
