Dumont to set up its ice cream unit in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jul 18 (UNI) Dumont, which manufactures frozen desserts, in its factory in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, was planning to set up its another manufacturing facility in Hyderabad of Telangana with an estimated capital of Rs 15 crores within the next year or two, Managing Director Vivek Inampudi said on Thursday.
Addressing after launching its ice cream production in premium category nationally here, he claimed Dumont has spent over Rs three crore on research and development to invent unique and rare flavours in ice creams and currently have 34 different flavours that available in our outlets.
The Vijayawada plant, which producing 1,900 litres ice-cream per hour would cater to Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu while the proposed 3,000 litres ice-cream an hour capacity plant in Hyderabad would cater to Telangana, Karnataka and also some of parts of Mumbai (Maharashtra) , Mr Inampudi informed.
The Vijayawada facility has the flexibility to expand and scale up its production to meet high demands, he said.
Dumont, which procures farm fresh milk from countryside of Vijayawada and fruits and ingredients from authentic sources across the globe, has currently 10 old storage facilities across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and Karnataka, besides from 25 cold storage vehicles to distribute its products to various parts in South India, he further said.
''We also import a few ingredients from renowned sources in order to achieve the finest taste results in the end product and the company primarily focuses on South India and Maharashtra markets with a target to set up 200 outlets over the next three years with an annual sales target of around Rs 120 crores, the Managing Director stated.
Initially, we will start with 20 outlets and expand to 100 outlets within a year and 200 outlets over next 3-years and in which nearly 30 per cent outlets will be owned'', he further stated.
The market size of flavored milk and ice creams combined was more than Rs 6,000 crore and the expected annual growth rate is around 30 per cent, he added.
