Driver rams over police barricade killing one, injuring two in Meghalaya

Shillong, May 28 (UNI) A Meghalaya Home Guard Volunteer was killed and two others injured were injured after a speeding vehicle rammed over the police barricade at Khliehtyrshi, Jowai Bypass in West Jaintia Hills district on Wednesday night amid a nationwide lockdown to check the spread of COVID-19, a police official said on Thursday.
A police official said the driver of the vehicle bearing Assam registration number AS 11 H 1957 Samim Ahmed Mazarbhuiya of Assam’s Cachar district was arrested this morning after an extensive hunt throughout the night.
The vehicle was proceeding to Assam’s main city of Guwahati via Shillong from Silchar.
