Dhaka, Aug 20 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Tuesday paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and said India is proud to partner with Bangladesh to "fulfill his vision".
"Deeply honoured to pay my homage to the Father of the Nation (of Bangladesh). Proud to partner with Bangladesh and fulfill his vision," Dr Jaishankar wrote after visiting the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.
The illustrious Banga Bandhu and his 18 family members including three sons were assassinated in 1975 in a ruthless exercise by 'right wing' military officers - in cold blood.
Later in a tweet, the External Affairs Minister wrote: "Deeply moved by the visit to Bangabandhu Memorial Museum. Paid respects to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Father of the Nation"
Meanwhile, speaking to the media after the bilateral discussions, Dr Jaishankar said that he had a fruitful interaction with Bangladesh counterpart Dr AK Abdul Momen.
"India is looking forward to host Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in New Delhi in October," he said.
