Dozens injured in blast in Afghanistan's Samangan province

Kabul, July 13(UNI) Scores of people were injured in an explosion on Monday which occurred close to the National Directorate of Security (NDS) office in Aybak city, capital of northern Samangan province, local officials said.

The explosion happened around 11:00 am and was followed by heavy gunfire, said Mohammad Sediq Azizi, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

At least 43 people, including three children and a woman, were injured in the explosion, said Abdul Khalil Musadiq, provincial head of the public health department.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing and said that fighting is still continuing between the security forces and attackers when reports last came in, reported TOLO news.

Dhaka, Aug 5 (UNI) Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed and Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed on Wednesday told a joint press briefing that the murder of retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, killed in police firing, is a 'stray incident.'
The top brass of the forces also said the incident would not jeopardize the relation between the Army and Police.
