Melbourne, Jan 29 (UNI) Austria's Dominic Thiem stunned World No 1 Rafael Nadal on Wednesday to enter the semi-final of the Australian Open at Rod Laver Arenam, here on Wednesday.
The fifth seed Thiem outclassed Nadal 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/4), 4-6, 7-6 (8/6) to deny him a crack at a record-equalling 20th Grand Slam title.
The Austrian recorded his first Grand Slam victory against the 2009 champion in six attempts to reach his first semi-final at the opening major championship of the year.
