Do not turn Bihar SIR into a roving inquiry, says SC, seeks clarity from ECI

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) The Supreme Court, while hearing a batch of petitions challenging the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) SIR process in Bihar, said, “The question of probing so much will arise when there are genuine people".
A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi observed that there appeared to be “some confusion” over whether the voters added to Bihar’s final electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) were among those previously deleted from the draft list or were entirely new entrants.
The bench made this oral observation while hearing a batch of petitions challenging the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) SIR process in Bihar.
