DMK extends support to MDMK agitation for release of Rajiv convicts

Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) The Opposition DMK on Monday pledged its support to the December three Raj Bhavan picketing agitaton announced by the MDMK condemning the delay in the release of seven life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
In a letter to MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, DMK President M K Stalin welcomed the picketing agitation to be joinly organised by the MDMK and the Dravidar Kazhagam and extended his party's support for it.
Condemning the prolonged delay on the part of Governor Banwarilal Purohit in releasing the convicts under Article 161 of the Constitution even after the State Cabinet recommending the release, he said the DMK's firm stand was that all the seven convicts--Murugan, Santhan,Perarivalan, Nalini,Ravichandran, Robert Pyas, Jayakumar--should be released immediately.
