DMK asks Puducherry CM to include Dalit Developmental Schemes in budget

In a list of suggestions for the budget submitted to the chief minister today, Mr.Siva suggested a separate inclusive budget with 16 per cent fund allocation for the dalits. He also urged for separate acts to ensure the funds for SC development that was not transferred by officials at the fag end of the fiscal. A departmental monitoring committee to be constituted to monitor and give suggestions to departments which is getting SCP funds, Mr.Siva said adding the tution fees of the SC students pursuing higher and technical education should be paid from the SCP.
Mr.Siva suggested the procurement of land in every village utilizing the SCP funds to provide free house site pattas to the dalits and also to construct houses for them to make Puducherry a hutless territory. He also urged for an announcement of enhancing the subsidy for dalits to construct houses from Rs.4 lakhs to Rs.5 lakhs in the budget.
Provision of Rs.One lakh with 50 per cent subsidy to the self-help groups run by dalit women, retrieval of land occupied by private parties which were identified for dalit projects and dropped by the previous N R Congress government, expansion and renovation of the Ambedkar manimandapam and revival of the Pondicherry Adi Dravidar Development Corporation (PADCO) among others were the suggestions Siva putforth to the chief minister.
