DM Awasthi appointed Spl DG (Naxal Operation) in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Jan 28 (UNI) Chhattisgarh government has effected a reshuffle of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers by appointing Durgesh Madhav Awasthi as the Special Director General (Naxal Operation and Special Intelligence Bureau).
Mr Awasthi, a 1986-batch IPS officer, who was promoted to the rank of DGP, will also continue to hold his present assignment as the Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Police Housing Corporation, according to an official notification issued last night.
This is for the first time that an officer of DGP rank will be heading the Anti-Naxal operation and Special Intelligence wings in this insurgency-affected state as the government is gearing up to tackle the Naxal menace in tribal-dominated Bastar region with full force at its command.
