Dist Fisheries Officer, Sr Asst held on graft charges in Telangana

Hyderabad, Aug 22 (UNI) ACB officials on Thursday caught Jagtial district Fisheries Officer, N Rama Pratap accepting a bribe.

'The accused officer accepted the bribe from the complainant through his subordinate senior assistant Sayed Khaja Nooruddin to issue proceedings recognizing 50 fishermen of Jaggasagar village as the members of Jaggasagar Fisheries Cooperative Society,' ACB said in a release here.

The senior assistant while accepting Rs 40,000 on behalf of the District fisheries officer, also demanded and accepted Rs 20,000 as his share of bribe from the complainant to obtain the signature on the proceedings from the District Fisheries officer.
Nooruddin was caught in his office and the bribe amount of Rs 60,000 was recovered from his working place.
'The District Fisheries Officer and the Senior Assistant were arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACE cases at Karimnagar,' the release added.

LED installation : 216 MU worth Rs 152 cr saved from July 2017-19

Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao informed the Assembly on Wednesday that 4,32,901 conventional street lights were replaced with energy efficient LEDs in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area and saved 216 MU worth Rs 152 crore from July 2017 to July 2019.
