Disaster victims had first right on state exchequer, should be served with holistic approach: Nitish

Patna, Nov 06 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the state government would not allow constraint of funds to come in the way in providing relief to disaster victims as they had the first right on state exchequer and relief work should be carried out with holistic approach.
Mr Kumar, while addressing a function organised to mark 11th foundation day of state disaster management authority here, said funds would not be allowed to come in the way for providing relief to disaster victims. Last year, flood from Kosi river had affected a large area in North Bihar causing devastation at larger scale, he said adding that state government had spent Rs 2100 crores for providing relief to 38 lakhs victims.
"Every victim family affected by floods from Kosi river last year, was given Rs 6,000 each which was directly deposited in their accounts,"the chief minister said adding that the assistance was given to victims for food, utensils, medicines and other basic requirements needed by them. Relief work should be carried out with holistic approach as only serving in this way, better result could be achieved, he pointed out and asked authorities to keep the interest of victims on top priority during relief operation after disaster of any kind.
