Director of Education in Goa issues circular against use of smartphones in schools

Panaji, Jan 29 (UNI) Director of Education G P Bhat has issued instruction to the government schools in the state against misuse of smartphones and asked Deputy Education Officers to pay surprise visits in their jurisdictions and initiate action against defaulters.
In a circular issue to here on Monday, he said despite of clear instructions it was brought to the notice that not only the students were misusing the smartphones but the teachers also were resorting to instructing students to use smartphones for downloading various material taking advantage of lucrative offers from certain service providers.
''It is therefore re-iterated that the use of cellphones be restricted to bare minimum so as to have a healthy teaching learning atmosphere in the school premises,'' he said.
