Ding Wei to coach CBA's Guangzhou Loong Lions

Guangzhou, Jun 5 (Xinhua) Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) side Guangzhou Loong Lions announced on Friday that former caretaker coach Ding Wei was appointed as the team's new head coach.
The club's former head coach Larry Drew's contract expired during the league's nearly five-month break. On Thursday, the top Chinese basketball league declared the suspended 2019-2020 season will restart on June 20.

"I appreciate this opportunity and I will give it all out to prepare for the restart, and help team players to meet our requirements in mind, body and skill," Ding said.

Qingdao and Dongguan have been selected as the hosts for the remainder of the league, which will be contested behind closed doors and in a championship format. Guangzhou ranked 18 of 20 on the standings when the league was suspended on February 1.

The Lingshui Masters was rescheduled twice previously from its original slot in China from February 25 to March 1, but was later pushed to May and then August, the world governing body of badminton said in a statement.
