Dimapur police busts fake Aadhaar card racket

Kohima, Oct 12 (UNI) Dimapur police busted a racket involved in illegal of Aadhaar enrollment in Dimapur town and arrested one person in
this connection. According to a release by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and the PRO of Dimapur police, a team from the Special Branch apprehended the accused engaged in the illegal Aadhaar enrollment, identified as a resident of Dhakijuli, in Tezpur of Assam. Police said that the
accused was an employee of an Aadhaar correction centre located at Purana Bazaar in Dimapur town.
The PRO said that the accused had illegally obtained the user ID of enrolling new applicants by paying Rs 23,000 to one person of Guwahati for a
period of one month. In this regard, the accused was engaged in illegal Aadhaar enrollment without the knowledge of the proprietors, PRO said. Since September 7 last, PRO said that the accused had enrolled around 150-200 people, mostly non-Nagas, at the rate of Rs 500 per person. His
modus operandi was to operate from 1500 hours to 1900 hours, when all other employees were away from office, however, further investigation was
on, the PRO said. Meanwhile, PRO has reminded all that the State Government had on August 2017 banned all private enrollment of Aadhaar and has authorised only designated government offices like deputy commissioner, additional DC, sub-divisional officer (civil) for the enrollment of the Aadhaar card.
