Diljit Dosanjh's Panjab 95 release date put off in India

Mumbai, Jan 21 (UNI) After the banger Dil-Luminati tour 2024, Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh initially planned to make a comeback on silver screens, but fate had other plans regarding the release of "Panjab 95" in India.
The film tells the story of the the arduous journey of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Kalra, who mysteriously vanished in 1995 under suspicious circumstances. The narrative captures the fraught socio-political landscape of the time, highlighting the volatile Sikh movement and the pervasive human rights atrocities that plagued Punjab during that era.
Days after the promising teaser of the film was released, the biopic drama release date has been shelved for the time being. Initially, the film was poised to release on February 7. However no changes have been made for the international release.
Diljit and his team took to his Instagram stories to announce the ordeals, "We are very sorry, and it pains us to inform you that the movie Punjab 95 will not release on 7th Feb due to circumstances beyond our control." In the next story, he shared an image of Khalra. "I pray to the Guru, who identifies with truth, to keep this light lit."
Dosanjh recently unveiled the gripping teaser of the film, which opens with Arjun Rampal reflecting on Punjab's tumultuous past. He alludes to critical events such as the contentious river water disputes, Operation Bluestar, the assassination of Indira Gandhi and the devastating 1984 riots.
"ਪੰਜਾਬ ’95 releases in cinemas internationally only on 7th February P.S. Full Movie, No Cuts #ChallengetheDarkness," Diljit had written while sharing the post on his social media handle.
The movie was originally titled "Ghalughara", which means massacre, but after the objection of the Censor Board the movie title was renamed "Panjab 95" with 120 scene cuts, which significantly impeded its progress.
The film is helmed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies.
